fall 2013 (15 of 1)The Law Office of Chuck Bonneau is open for business. Chuck Bonneau is excited to serve the Sacramento area, where he was born and raised.  Please take a moment to get to know Chuck.

Chuck began his studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he earned a degree in Global Studies, with an emphasis in Latin America. His studies exposed him to many stories of new comers to the United States, igniting a passion for immigration.

He then pursued his passion for advocacy and obtained a law degree from University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. While he is capable of tackling a wide variety of legal issues, his background is focused on criminal defense and individual immigration relief.

His legal career started at his father’s law office, where he worked as a law clerk. His father, Charles Bonneau, Jr., is a certified specialist in criminal appeals. Charles Bonneau, Jr. is one of the most experienced appellate attorneys in this region, and is a contributing author on the writs and appeals section of a practice advisory called the CEB, which thousands of attorneys rely on everyday. Over the years, Chuck has worked with him on dozens of appeals and writs in major felony cases, ranging from assault weapons charges to a death penalty case. He has soaked up an ocean of knowledge in the process.

While attending law school, Chuck interned at the Yolo County Public Defender’s Office, giving him experience in criminal defense, and affirming his drive to help the little guy. He negotiated misdemeanor cases, including DUI’s, drug offenses, petty thefts and driving on suspended licenses. He argued motions to suppress evidence, and motions to dismiss felony cases. He also argued motions to terminate probation early, and motions to expunge. No matter the case, Chuck always focused on his client’s goals.

Chuck is now pursuing his long time passion for immigration. Chuck’s immigration experience includes: U-Visas, Termination of Removal Proceedings, Requests for Prosecutorial Discretion, Waivers, Citizenship Interviews, Deferred Action, and appearances and oral argument in criminal cases with immigration consequences.

His latest work involves post-conviction relief, including a motion to vacate a guilty plea, and a writ of habeas corpus.

Each day brings new opportunities for Chuck to expand his legal breadth. His passion for helping his clients is sincere, and he has the experience to know how to get the job done. He looks forward to serving you.
